He was called to pastor in 2007 and completed a certificate program at Johnson Bible College in 2010. Click here to view a scrapbook of his spiritual history and ministry activites.

Before starting Spirit and Truth Fellowship, Pastor Spakes worked for seventeen years (and still presently works) for a Knoxville-based software company as a Senior Software Engineer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993 at Tennessee Technological University, graduating Summa Cum Laude In Cursu Honorum.

Sheila Spakes
Children's Ministry Director

Sheila was called to work in children's ministry as a young woman. She earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Child Care from Kaskaskia College in 1995 and has seven years of work experience in Day Care. In 2004, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology with emphasis on Early Childhood Administration at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Sheila has been enthusiastic about Vacation Bible School since she was a teenager, and she frequently volunteered to work in VBS in her home church. After she moved to East Tennessee, she served as Children's Church Director and VBS Director for six years. She prefers the VBS curriculum created by Group Publishing, and twice she has traveled to Colorado to beta-test their VBS programs.
